Hi Danielle, I have no doubt that it's the Samson CO1U. I am always impressed by it's performance when the stories made in my workshops are shown using a decent speaker system. I have found that it perfoms best when connected direct to the USB socket on my MacBook Pro rather than through a powered USB Hub. All the best Barrie
I bought a couple of those Samson USB mic's and they only come in as MONO in Audacity and we also noticed in MovieMaker that they come in as stereo but it's louder on one side vs the other. But yes, this is on a PC.
Plus, the Samson doesn't come with a mic stand and I've yet to find one that works!
The Samson CO1U is a mono microphone - it's incapable of sending different level to one channel or the other - there is only one signal. If you want you software to input equal signals on the left and right tracks then that's a software or computer setting. My advice would be to create a mono sound track - otherwise you are creating twice as much data as you need which can be significant when you're compressing the film for streaming or download. The Samson mic clip is a standard fitting - there should be no trouble fixing it to a mic stand. Have fun Barrie

I'm with Barrie, I like the Samson a lot, the only problem is it's a pain to install on the PC, but once you get it set up it's great.

Hi--
I generally just copy the mono track so it's stereo when editing...it's the same on a Mac. Not ideal solution though.
But it comes with an adaptor so it works in any regular mic stand!
