I learned how to create digital stories through working with Bridges to Understanding, a nonprofit based in Seattle that connects children in different countries through digital storytelling.  I am currently studying to become an Occupational Therapist and am very interested in the therapeutic application of digital stories. I have created a few digital stories based on my experiences swing dancing with arthritis.  I'm looking forward to seeing all the stories that have been created by people on the Stories for Change community!

Lynne Okun, artist, art teacher and art therapist, is the director of Kids’Arts/Westside Cultural Center, a free creative arts program for youth in downtown Ventura offering visual arts, music, creative writing, dance, after school and every Saturday morning.   Ms. Okun is inspired by the power of the arts as a tool for learning about the world around us and inside of us.  She has dedicated much of her career to providing safe, supportive space for self-expression for youth in short and long term foster care. Lynne is a mentor for many young artists in the community and has collaborated on adventure video projects with youth, including a four day sail on an historic tall ship around the Channel Islands.  She is a digital collage and multimedia artist and avid “crafter.”  Her most recent inspiration is her connection to her garden-- her newest endeavors include building with earth, designing small spaces and growing edible food forests.

As Director of Canadian Projects for the Center for Digital Storytelling, I'm interested in who is telling and sharing, where why and how.

I am a Coordinator of Instructional Technology for a K-12 school district.  I have taken the basic three-day digital storytelling workshop as well as a seven-day Train the Trainer workshop with the Story Center in Berkeley, CA.
