Biography:

I set up the Patient Voices Programme nearly four years ago using digital stories to convey the very human experiences of patients, carers and service users in the UK to clinicians, managers and policy makers in the hope that, by standing in someone else's shoes for a few minutes, they might deliver more compassionate care and make more humane decisions. The stories are all freely available for people to use in health and social care education programmes - and apparently they are doing so, judging by the number of hits on the website!

I'm also one half of Pilgrim Projects, a small education consultancy specialising in aspects of healthcare quality improvement, adult and lifelong learning and key skills, through the design and development of open, distance and e-learning materials.

We've been working closely with CDS to develop digital storytelling in the health and social care sectors in the UK and, more generally, to humanise healthcare.
