Biography:

This is my 25th year of teaching. I've been interested in the power of image as a teaching tool for over 15 years. It was not until Apple Computer introduced iMovie that I was able to begin using digital tools to teach. What I've noticed using these tools is that students dedicate themselves to learning. I am realizing what I have always wished to be as a teacher, a consultant.

Biography:

I serve as chair of the Graduate Program in Design at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, where my colleagues and I are creating a new transdiciplinary curriculum. CDS will offer annual workshops with our incoming students as a way of building community and introducing them to the power of digital storytelling. I believe that design is all about change. Whether we are working in 2D, 3D, interactive, or hybrid forms, at the end of the day, change is what we design - and narrative plays several essential roles in the process.

I come from the worlds of design education, human-computer interaction, computer games, theatre, and activism. All of these intersect the digital storytelling movement in some way.
