Past Dreams Rearranged to Fit

Storyteller: Georgelina

I wrote this story because a lot of my friends have become teen parents. It could happen to anyone, and we judge teen mothers with out realizing all the things that they go through. I wrote this story in first person, even though I'm not a teen mother myself, because I've been close to a few friends who have gone through this experience and I don't think their real story is being heard.

Collaborators:

This story was created at the train-the-trainer workshops (hosted at Mandela CLC and Camfield Estates (Neighborhood Networks Tech Centers)) youth learned digital storytelling and multimedia production techniques, along with creative ways to articulate their ideas and express themselves. Using a ‘train the trainer’ approach, they also learned how to teach digital storytelling to younger children in urban communities, most specifically as part of pilot projects at lower Roxbury housing development summer programs. This project will also explore using geomapping techniques to distribute the product and encourage dialogue, for instance using Google MyMaps. We hope to frame these stories around capturing the grassroots, local stories, history, and tradition of lower Roxbury.
