Katie, as part of her internship with MassIMPACT in the summer of 2007, participated as an active adult in the Teen Digital Storymapping Bootcamp. Her story relates her experience as a young teen girl trying to enter the world of professional modeling. The story includes some extreme (and sometime photo manipulated) photos of the very thin models the industry officials wanted her to strive to be.
Katie's a great example of a storyteller who entered the workshop with little video editing experience and initial disbelief that she had a real story to tell, who ended up with a very powerful story that expressed many feelings about her growth to a young woman, comfortable with her body image.
This story was created at the train-the-trainer workshops (hosted at Mandela CLC and Camfield Estates (Neighborhood Networks Tech Centers)) youth learned digital storytelling and multimedia production techniques, along with creative ways to articulate their ideas and express themselves, sponsored by MassIMPACT.
