Take A Walk in My Shoes

Storyteller: Jamaine Del-Rosario

This story, by "Smokey," is a true story written for a class project, that he turned into a digital story as part of his work at the Camfield Technology Center this summer. It uses spoken word and repetition of the phrase "take a walk in my shoes," to emphasis his feelings of disappointment of having to move to a one bedroom apartment in the projects with his family of seven. It happened because his mom got into trouble with the law and they lost everything.

Storyteller: Barbara Collins

Barbara wrote this story about her progression as a mother and community leader in her housing development, Villa Victoria in the South End of Boston. She started the workshop as the host with great hesitation about actually having a story about herself. Her modesty about her standing within the Villa Victoria community was challenged by her fellow IBA co-workers.
