My Two Mothers

Watch this video!
Storyteller: Fredy Guerrero

"Have you ever thought that having two mothers is better than having just one?" Fredy reflects on the role his older sister Angelica played as a mother figure in his youth and how his life changed when he was reunited with his biological mother. Although he was often confused as a youth about the whereabouts of his mother, he realizes as an adult that both his sister and mother played different roles in supporting him both emotionally and financially. This story incorporates some insightful reflections around motherhood and incorporates a plethora of personal photographs.

Gianni

Watch this video!
Storyteller: Seline Moreno

This is a very personal account of a single woman's decision to continue a pregnancy after surviving a divorce and trying to start a new life. Seline focused on the circumstances that led up to a decision that changed her life on many levels, but in the end focuses on the child as a blessing. She uses a few key personal photos, photo manipulation, text slides, and stock photos. It is also a great example of using music strategically at the end of the story, ending with just few final words and a slide show of her son Gianni.

A Mother to the Next Generation

Watch this video!
Storyteller: Barbara Collins

Barbara wrote this story about her progression as a mother and community leader in her housing development, Villa Victoria in the South End of Boston. She started the workshop as the host with great hesitation about actually having a story about herself. Her modesty about her standing within the Villa Victoria community was challenged by her fellow IBA co-workers.
