This is the story of how the birth of the first child helps a pregnant woman find her voice to have the birth she envisions for her second baby.

In this story, Doreen reflects on her history of drug and alcohol use and the tactics she used to keep social services at bay – until she realized her life needed to change. Her struggle to overcome addiction, reunite with her children, and reclaim her life is truly inspiring. The story was created in a CDS hands-on 4-day workshop with parents who have been involved with the child welfare system.
