Let's Meet and Collaborate!

Since our launch in May 2007, StoriesforChange.net (SfC) has grown into an exciting gallery of resources and digital stories from communities all over the world, with the underlying goal to build an active social network of facilitators and community activists. The SfC development committee, with the help of FloatLeft and Vernal, has recently enhanced the site's tools to make meeting and collaborating with other members easier.

Sandy Lathem

: profile
Biography:

Currently, I am a doctoral student in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program at the University of Vermont. Digital storytelling has become a primary interest of mine in recent years, and currently it is one of my possible dissertation topics. Previous to this year, I have been a faculty member in the Department of Education and part of our university's PT3 grant researching the impact of electronic portfolios in pre-service teacher preparation. In this capacity, I worked with Dr. Cynthia Reyes to introduce digital storytelling to pre-service teachers in the middle level program. Students in this class created literacy autobiographies in a digital story format. We have been amazed by the stories our pre-service teachers are telling about their personal journeys in literacy. This summer Dr. Ellen Thompson and I are teaching a digital storytelling course to in-service teachers. The focus of this course is -- "Developing Literacy Through Digital Storytelling." We will use this site and many others to inform our work.
