Linda begins her story with “I wasn’t ready for it. Not yet.” Did you think she was talking about the pandemic? Much of our personal identity is connected to the work we do. Beyond work’s financial necessity, it gives us a chance to share something of value, and it shapes how we spend our time. How did Linda “let go” of her work life and find a way to embrace NOT having a job?
During the early days of the pandemic, when we entered into a shut down, many of our routines revolved around finding ways to protect and help our families. What image from Linda’s description of this time do you remember most? Why? Years from now what do you think you will remember most from those days?
How would you describe the “angels” Linda refers to in her story? The news was full of stories that shared examples of kindness and generosity. What do you think caused that? Has this phenomenon continued?
